best purchase i've made for the ranch this year
we run about 200 head and fly pressure this summer has been brutal. started using the ironherd off the side by side while they're at the feed bunk and it's the first time i've seen the herd this calm during peak season. no more bunching up or tail switching constantly. wish i had this 5 years ago.

Honestly wasn't expecting it to be this simple. Clamped the cables on, connected the hose, and hit the switch. My 14 year old son set it up while I was finishing feeding. Only reason for 4 stars is I'd like a second nozzle option but that's me being picky.

herd is way more settled at the bunk now
fly stress was causing weight loss in a few of our younger animals. vet mentioned it as a factor and suggested better fly control. been fogging 3x a week for about a month and the difference in how settled the herd is has been real noticeable. they just stand and eat now instead of stomping and swinging heads.

ditched pour-ons completely after two weeks
we used to do pour-on every few weeks which meant running everyone through the chute. this is so much less stressful for the animals and honestly for us too. herd doesn't even flinch when we come through now. my wife even did a pass by herself last tuesday without any trouble.

first time my cows didn't scatter at treatment time
Every time we'd bring the squeeze chute out the whole herd would go to the far corner of the pasture. With this I just fog during feeding and they barely look up. Night and day difference in stress on them and on us. 4 stars because I had to order an extra clamp for my truck battery setup but that's not really the product's fault.

tank is tougher than it looks
been bouncing around in the bed of my truck on dirt roads for 3 weeks straight and it hasn't skipped a beat. pump is solid, quick connects don't leak, and it sprays the same every time. way more durable than i expected for what i paid.

tick numbers dropped off a cliff
I run stocker cattle on pasture and ticks were getting out of hand coming into summer. Been fogging twice a week since May and the tick load has dropped big time. Pulling maybe 1 or 2 off where I used to pull 10-15 per head. Flies are way more manageable too.

Got it strapped down and wired up pretty quick. Mist is fine and even, covers the animals well when you idle through the herd. Only thing I'd change is a longer power cable — had to pick up a short extension from the auto parts store. Not a dealbreaker though.

paid for itself before the first tank was empty
Heat stress and flies together were killing our gains on the feedlot side. fogging during the hottest part of the day made a noticeable difference in how the cattle are eating and moving. they're gaining again instead of standing around panting. this thing paid for itself faster than anything else I've bought for the operation.

horn flies basically gone after the second week
was spending $40/month on tags that quit working by august every single year. switched to fogging with the ironherd and using my own permethrin mix. horn flies are basically gone. stable flies are down too but those are harder to fully eliminate. still miles ahead of what tags were doing.

i'm 67 and did this by myself no problem
at my age I'm not wrestling cattle through a chute anymore. set this up on the back of my gator, drove through the pen at feeding time, and that was it. no hired help, no grandkids needed. the quick connects make it real easy to take on and off too.

had a group of fall calves that weren't gaining the way they should. between the flies and the heat they were spending more time bunched up than eating. started fogging every morning before it gets hot and within two weeks they were back on track. sale barn weights were better than expected last month.

neighbor saw mine and ordered one the same week
